Tax Free Weekend

Every year for a while now, most states have offered what’s called a “tax free weekend.” You can help your family save money this year by planning your back-to-school shopping.

This year’s Date for Texas is – August 4-6, 11-16th 2017:

Here is the list for purchasing general merchandise purchased

  • Clothing and footwear under $100
  • School supplies under $100
  • Backpacks under $100 for elementary and secondary students
  • Includes layaway items
  • Includes online purchases

Each state may have a different date so search the internet for your state so you don’t miss the extra savings that can help your pocket book.

If you really want to save more then you will need to do a little homework.  This means you should compare prices at different stores, which you can do online, and also combining coupons—in addition to the tax free savings—whenever possible.

Don’t make the mistake of buying items that you don’t need just because of the sales tax holiday.

Don’t be fooled by the NO TAX weekend.  Look around for deals the week before the TAX FREE weekend.  You may find that the items are cheaper the weekend before so make sure you do your research and tax calculations.
