Finding Uncashed Checks

untitled (35)

Who doesn’t need extra money these days. Money is what makes the world go around. When I find $1 in my pants pocket before I throw them in the wash I’m so excited.

While going through some old mail I found a check that was 10 years old. WOW, I won’t say the amount of the check, but I will tell you that my mouth was opened wide.

Yep, I can say that I was shocked that this check was that old and it hadn’t been cashed.

When my mother passed away, we went through a time in our lives where it was a bit of chaos, but now we are taking a breather and getting back to some much needed reorganization and restructure.

Have you ever been there? Well, if not, you will go through those times at one point in your lifetime.

Back to the check, I turned it over on the back and it had been signed by my husband as if he meant to cash it, but he forgot or maybe he intended to give it to me to cash and it didn’t happen.

Note: most banks won’t honor any check that’s 1 year old.

Never despair, I’m no quitter so I immediately figured out what the check was for. I started researching on the internet to see if that company was still around. I found the company so I picked up the phone and made a phone call.

God was really working on our behalf because I contacted the correct phone number and I talked to the correct person that needed to assist me.

They told me to send the check back to them and they would reissue it. Praise God for unexpected income, Checks in the mail, gifts and surprises. I love it.

So, I’m writing this blog post to tell you if you find a check, don’t let it go, don’t destroy it. Do your research and try to get it reissued. Remember, our check was 10 years old.

Have you ever misplaced a check, gift card, money, etc? What did you do with it? We would love to know.
